Melvin Madlock held both the straight cane sword of Instinct in his right hand and the short sword of Reason in his left. He'd been training for this every day for months in Grapeville Celonia. Why they choose to appear in his hands at that time and for no one else was something of a mystery to him.

They weren't at their full power, even after he had fought everyone else in this province to get ahold of them, but he expected someone else to take them right out of his hands after doing so.
It seemed though, that no one else wanted to approach him while he still had rightful possession of Swords of Contrast.

Sure, he fought for them, but even then there was no guarantee of them ever appearing before him. It was a hit-or-miss affair really. Fighting and strategizing his way through the Ten Mok Circles really put a strain on his newly extended lifespan.

Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that he didn't want to give up his old weapons, Vanity and Pride. They somehow fused with his new weapons, much to his relief.

Maybe the other potentials were all too eager to get rid of their old weapons, deeming them unworthy in the eyes of their would-be new ones.

Now all that was left to do was to find a way to get these swords blessed by a High Crusadist, supernaturally sharpened, gilded, and then magically reinforced.

All while re-training to deal with the weight they now bore upon his own enervated body and soul. That's not even taking into account the Korkish Media and Jungle Mokkers targeting him at every opportunity.

Shouldn't be a problem, right?

While walking through the hallways on his way to his Hwa Rang Do lesson, he thought about his escape from the underworld and whether or not he would be able to properly balance both hunting mokkers and prentending to study in his other classes.

Probably not.

Tactics could be somewhat of an interesting lesson now and then. Most days however, it was, like everything else Melvin had to learn, boring due to memorizing logistics and points of penetration.

And not the exciting kind either.

Melvin had first bought Vanity and Pride short sword and cane sword combo over at Passive Aggressive, one of his favorite stores in all of Grapeville.

There were all kinds of armor, melee weapons, bows, and specialized crossbows to choose from.

He decided to take up the light class armor (Lightgrade), automatic small crossbow sidearm (Lowcross), and the tactical repeating crossbow (Speedcross) alongside Vanity and Pride.

There were shotgun crossbows (Highcrosses), automatic shotgun crossbows (Poprocks) explosive handcannons (Boomboxes) sniper crossbows (Zoomcrosses) and normal bows (Norbows) to choose from as well, but he wouldn't need those until later.

Those were for specialized enemies.

As he was sharpening Vanity and Pride, he thought about the women he loved (and all whom rejected him), and what these two instruments of destruction could do to them, even though they weren't nearly as powerful as the swords he would hopefully get soon, Instinct and Reason.

It would be so easy to go ZR (on at least one of them before the Celinia Authorities caught on), but then he would no longer be qualified on a spiritual to hold those two weapons, much less fight for them.

Although if he did somehow get a hold of them, they would immediately become corrupted in his hands.

An appealing thought.
